TOLL

Contracts, vows, and the bell that calls the Cathedral down.

A grieving lord pays you in gold and Cathedral parchment to retrieve a daughter who does not want retrieving. By your second hour inside the cloister, the contract no longer matches the night: she is not a prisoner, the abbess will not surrender her, and the woman you were hired to save is fighting a political war of her own — in which her forbidden love is only the most visible weapon.

One Night

  • Six people with reasons.
  • A five-stage clock you cannot stop, only steer.
  • A bell above the cloister that has not been rung in seven years — and three parties tonight have cause to ring it. Two of them are not you.

Toll is an investigation and social-intrigue adventure where the climax is built from words, not swords, and where each of its four endings rearranges the Crescent.

For D&D 5e (2024 rules), 5e-compatible.
